For the third year, the quilt made with Peoples Choice blocks from the 2016 Greene County Fair will be raffled with proceeds donated to the Greene County 4-H Foundation.
This year’s quilt was pieced and quilted by Suzanne Sievers at the Stitch in Jefferson. Sievers used 25 blocks made from batik fabrics entered in last year’s block contest to produce the 90”x 90” queen-size quilt. An additional three blocks were used to create a piece that could be a wall hanging.
The quilt will be on display through July 12 in the window of Addie’s on the courthouse quare and tickets are available there and at the Stitch. The quilt will then be moved to the Open Class exhibit area at Clover Hall and tickets will be on sale during the Greene County Fair. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held Sunday, July 16, at 3 pm at Clover Hall. The winner does not need to be present at the drawing.
Fabric for this year’s Peoples Choice quilt block contest is available at the Stitch and blocks are due by July 12. The staff at the Stitch is available to help select a pattern if needed. Anyone can enter and 4-H members are particularly encouraged to contribute to the project.
The Foundation raises funds to assist 4-H members with scholarships to attend camps and conferences, and support 4-H programming such as Clover Kids and Awards Day.
